Originally built on demand for a few AD1 customers the OC1 solves an important interfacing task. Though SDIF3 is the only official standard for DSD signal transport, Sony got the demand from some customers to run multichannel audio over larger distances on a single cable. Their solution was the ST optical format, developed for (then Sony) Sonoma and emmLabs.
“The OC1 converts the AD1’s SDIF3 format to the ST optical DSD format.”
Grimm Audio’s OC1 converts the AD1 SDIF3 format to Sony’s ST optical DSD format. It is part of our line of little ‘problem solver’ boxes, build in rugged cases but lacking our characteristic wooden front.
