Jack Liu, chief editor of the Taiwanese magazine Audio Art, did an extensive review of the MU2 and became highly impressed. If you master Chinese, please read the original article on the website of our distributor Square Wave. For everyone else we offer some translated fragments of the wonderful text below. Jack Liu admired the MU2 so much that recently Audio Art offered the MU2 the ‘Best Performance Of The Year 2026 Award’! We are very grateful for this big honour.
For now we wish all our partners and fans a very happy Chinese New Year!
Jack Liu: “First, I like to summarize the overall listening experience of the MU2 as being crisp, sweet, powerful, clean and responsive. The sound is focussed, with high resolution – especially in the low frequencies which are cohesive and defined.

I listened to Stokowski’s rendition of Smetana’s “River of Moor Island”. This piece seems to perfectly unleash the energy of the MU2. When the music is delicate, the MU2 presents a gentle and melodius side; and as the music’s climaxes build, the energy output of the MU2 seems to increase accordingly, without any sense of weakness or compression. And when the music reaches its climax, the overwhelming sonic energy is frighteningly strong, yet it remains perfectly organized, still clearly presenting the inner voices and their layers. Such high resolution is truly impressive!

After listening to the Grimm Audio MU2’s streaming performance, the impression of its crisp, sweet and high-resolution sound lingered in my mind – a sound that truly delights. And the MU2 is not just a streamer, it’s also an excellent digital-to-analog converter and a preamplifier with relay based volume control, all for a reasonable price.”
