John Darko of the well known Darko Audio online audiophile magazine took the MU2 to a long term test and published a video review. For months he played the MU2 side by side with a Mola Mola Tambaqui. He loved its sound:
“I would say that the MU2 organizes the soundstage players with much cleaner focus. Not only that, tonal colors are richer. So think about the difference between an oil painting and a water color and you’ll understand really where I’m coming from here. But if that sounds too pretentious know that the Grimm, like the Mola Mola Tambaqui, makes music sound more believable.
(…)
Now some of you will be asking could I pick the differences between two DACs in a blind listening test and I would say “Yeah definitely.” And I know this because the final two days spent pitting the Grimm against the Mola were done blind and that blind test confirmed what I had previously concluded from two months of sighted side by side comparisons.”
You read that right, John Darko actually did a blind comparison between the two DACs. This is not a small effort by any measure. If you like to learn about the outcome, please watch Darko’s highly entertaining video report here. It’s called “The best DAC I’ve ever heard…”
