The Netherlands’ oldest hifi magazine Hifi Video Test did a review of our new PW1 phono stage. Bert Oling and friends became enchanted by the Phono Wizard…
“When we started the real work on the various turntables, everyone enjoyed something special, something we had never experienced before. The word “musical” was mentioned, but for me that is a well-trodden path. An anecdote from our sessions tells the whole story.
On the Thorens TD1600/TP92/vandenHul Condor main set we played a Philips LP by the famous Grumiaux Trio. Mozart’s Divertimento KV563 – 40 minutes long – is phenomenal music, apparently intended as “amusing”, but with an edge. The blend of the three instruments, the ease, the spatial imaging, it was noticed by even the biggest classical hater of our team. He sat breathlessly on the couch for the entire 40 minutes… and afterwards he sighed: “Something Special…”. When we then played his favourite Jazz Lp, ‘4 in Conversation’ by jazz violinist Frans van Bergen and his trio, it became clear to him that indeed something special was going on. Yes, the Grimm Audio PW1 is beautiful technology in the service of music…
So for whom is it? The well-known question… For the music lover that has a top-class audio system with a ditto analogue front-end, the Grimm Audio is a must to try in his or her own system, to play with the settings and above all to enjoy the music…”
