Great news for all MU1 owners and future owners: Roon Labs will introduce their new v1.8 software version on February 9th. It received a completely new look and feel and is one of their biggest makeovers to date. According to Roon, v1.8 received “a fresh new visual design that takes its inspiration from the idea of the museum – an airy, neutral environment in which to display things of beauty. We also took cues from classic music magazines, using bold typography and innovative layout to bring music to life.”
Roon says that the powerful ‘Focus’ search function is much enhanced, including data outside your personal library. Roon also claims that their “Valence” music suggestion algorithm is further improved, which would be impressive since it already worked very well. For classical music Roon now identifies relationships between composers, conductors, and performers. The presentation of classical music recordings information is said to be much enhanced.
Since we selected Roon as our main interface between the user and the MU1 music player, this 1.8 update is big news. We’re looking forward a lot to explore its new possibilities and are delighted to be part of the Roon family.
